One free way to back up files online

In case you’re wondering if there’s a way to easily back up your personal files online just by dragging and dropping files, there is one and it’s easy to set up.

See detail steps from this link.

My simple steps:

1. Download Gmail Drive Shell Extension

2. Install the Gmail Drive Shell Extension

3. Enter your gmail email account details

4. Go to your My Computer, you will see a new drive called Gmail Drive

5. Double click on the drive and you can begin to drag and drop your files into the Gmail Drive

There are some pros & cons though:

  • Drag & drop is easy
  • Cannot upload file size > 10mb
  • Cannot upload file name > 49 characters
  • It automatically creates an email for each file that you upload. Solution: just move all these mails to the Archive folder and the files will remain intact.
  • Is it secured? If someone has your userID and password to log into your email, your files can be exposed as well. Just keep your passwords well and occasionally change it.

Hope it helps!
