How to get appointment reminders


Are you always late for appointments? There’s this software called Say the Time which reads your appointment when it’s time for you to attend your meeting. The best thing is that the software will read the time to you using a pleasant male of female voice. Just configure your preference.

Installing the software is a breeze. Upon completion of the installation, you will notice the bottom right of your task pane is fitted with a new set of date and time display, just like the one below.

Bottom right time If you don’t see the exact date and time display just after installation, that’s fine. It’s because I have customized my time to be displayed this way. Neat huh! The program is so flexible and highly customizable.

Now for some features. Right click on the date and time to access Say the Time’s features. Once you do that, you will see the following:

Settings: Set the clock display, time synchronization, time announcements, reminders and the coolest thing, Text-to-speech. Yea baby!

Reminders: Displays a list of reminders that you’ve created.

New Reminder: Create new reminders.

Notes: Displays a list of notes that you’ve created.

New Notes: Create new notes and jot down anything important here. Not on real papers which go missing.

Show Calendar: Displays your calendar of events.

Sync Date and Time: Synchronize your date and time with the world clock.

Clocks: 3 features. View world time clock, start stopwatch and countdown timer.

Some may say that this piece of software may not be considered an enterprise software. My stand is that Say the Time is suitable for organizations and businesses because:

  • It helps business executives to manage and schedule their time better. No more late meetings or even missed appointments.
  • Automatically remind you to submit that timesheet before the weekly friday closing dateline. Hey.. some organizations do penalize staffs for submitting their timesheet late so this software might just save your job.
  • The world clock is an important feature for businesses with worldwide presence. For example, if your business partner is in New Zealand and you’re in the US, you can easily schedule a time convenient for both sides. Say the time will tell you what time it is over at New Zealand when you specify a time in your area.
  • For those who procrastinate a lot and leave work to the last minute, Say the Time is great to keep employees on their toes. Imagine being reminded of that important report every hour of the day! It will drive them crazy. The only downside is that the program cannot be controlled by the immediate supervisor. Otherwise, it will let the program do the chasing rather than personally following up.
  • For company directors and managers, you no longer need a secretary because Say the Time is more accurate and consistent in reminding you of your important schedule. At least the software doesn’t fall sick, or get pregnant. :)
