Backup Platinum - an enterprise backup software to any storage media

Monday 18 June 2007 @ 4:58 pm

Do you backup your files regularly to other storage media like DVD-RW or external hard disks?

If you do backup your hard disk content, it must be

  • a repetitive process and time consuming. If only there’s an automated process.
  • only occasionally when you’re free and feel like backing up. Warning! you’ll never know when your hard disk might just crash on you
  • backed up on the same partition or hard disk. Maybe you didn’t realize that a crashed hard disk will wipe out any content in there include those you have backed up.

If you don’t back up your hard disk content, maybe because

  • your files aren’t that important.
  • you simply don’t know how to.
  • you cannnot see the importance until your machine just wouldn’t boot up and when you bring it to the shop, all they can tell you is…. I’m Sorry!

Crashed Hard Disk

Wouldn’t want this to happen to you. Continue Reading »

A Guide to ERP for Service Organizations

Monday 18 June 2007 @ 2:22 pm

The following is an ERP Podcast hosted by TechnologyEvaluation.com

Podcast Title: A Guide to ERP for Service Organizations

Excerpt:

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is enabling service organizations to streamline service delivery, optimize operations, and improve customer satisfaction. In this podcast, TEC analyst Neil Stolovitsky sits down with Oracle’s Ted Kempf for his take on the unique implementation requirements of ERP systems for professional service organizations, as well as the role technology plays in running a successful service business. Ted brings a wealth of experience as an industry analyst and marketing executive in the consulting, systems integration and enterprise project management software industry.

The podcast examines some of the following questions:

  1. What makes the professional services industry different, when implementing an ERP system?
  2. What are the key pain points professional services organizations are struggling with?
  3. Is service-oriented architecture (SOA) applicable to professional services organizations and their technology strategies? Why or why not?

Some Key Points

Talks about three main service organizations categories and it’s ERP functions

  • Consulting - Project Management
  • Business services - Service Level Agreement, CRM, Service Contract, Field Services
  • Staffing - CRM, HR, Financials, Project Management

Challenges

  • Internal billing rate
  • Retaining in house expertis
  • Getting most utilization from resources without burning them out
  • Driving successful engagements
  • Financial control

Technology

My Comments

There’s really no one single product that can best fit your service organization. However there are products like those offered by Oracle as mentioned in the podcast which attempts to group some key functions around main service industries such as the consulting, business services and staffing organization.

Even if there is an ERP product which has all the key features such as Project Management, CRM, Financial Management, Resource Management, etc, your service organization would need to determine which area to focus on to maximise productivity and efficiency especially on business processes. Attempting to implement and apply all ERP functions at one go can be massive and overwhelming for both the implementors and business users. The key to a successful ERP implementation for service organization is deep understanding of internal business processes and the ability to identify areas which could be further improved and enhanced with key ERP capabilities.

Manage your tasks effectively with a To-Do List software

Friday 15 June 2007 @ 1:11 am

For someone who is always rushing around feeling as if things are always not done, this person definitely needs to manage his or her tasks better and more effectively.

With a To Do List Software you can now manage your business better and ensure that you’re focusing on doing work which are of higher priority and urgent.

In my opinion this Swift To-Do List software is better than Microsoft Outlook in the following areas:

  • Design (The software has cute images and icons, making it easier and more fun to look at)
  • User friendliness (Adding new tasks and details related to the task is easy and straight forward)
  • Hierarchical tree structure (Easy to create sub tasks)
  • Notes (attached notes onto the tasks)

If you’re under a tight budget and would like to try the software before purchasing, they have a lite version with some limitations. You can download the Free To Do list software through this link.

The flash demo of the software is also another great way for you to evaluate the software. You can see how easy it is to use software even without having to download and install anything.

Organize your tasks better. Check out the To Do List software today.
