New Mac OS X Snow Leopard available today!

Mac OS X Snow Leopard BoxIf you’re a Mac user, I’m sure you’ve heard of the latest Mac OS called Mac OS X Snow Leopard which is officially released today, 28th August 2009.

With this new and latest OS, Mac users can expect their Mac to run faster. It is also more reliable and easier to use. The Mac OS X Snow Leopard is built on a solid UNIX foundation that provides stability as well as industry leading support for Internet standards.

Some key highlights for the Snow Leopard are:

  • Price of upgrade - at below $30, i’m sure it’s within the reach of Mac users. Even for international Mac users, it’s still affordable.
  • Exchange 2007 support – if your office’s unified communications is using Exchange, your Mac will now work seamlessly with it.
  • Location detection – great feature for frequent travelers as Snow Leopard changes the time zone automatically upon your first connection to the Wi-Fi.
  • Faster PDF access – the Preview feature allows you to access your PDF documents much faster than Adobe Reader.
  • 7GB space – installing this update frees up 7GB of space from your hard disk.
  • 64 bit support – key system applications are now 64 bit. A really good improvement for those with lots of memory.
  • Faster web browsing – With 50% faster Javascipt performance, you should be able to access your web content much faster.

Can’t wait to upgrade your Mac OS? Users of Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5) can now upgrade to the latest version for

  • $29 – single users
  • $49 for a family pack of five users

Do note that only Apple OS X Leopard users are eligible for the Snow Leopard upgrade. Tiger & earlier OS users will need to purchase either versions of the upgraded Mac Box Set. (Source: Amazon.com)

And if you just recently purchased a Mac on or after 8th June 2009, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard for just $9.95. But do note that this $9.95 program will only be available till 26th December 2009.

For those who can’t afford $29 but can afford $25, I have searched around the web and found out that Amazon is selling for $25 ($4 discount).

However I can’t be sure when this sale / discount ends. Below is a screenshot taken from Amazon.com aaaas of 27th August 2009.
