August 1, 2006 - Softros Systems, Inc. has announced Softros LAN Messenger 3.7. The serverless, Windows-based (9x/2000/XP) instant messenger provides encrypted one-to-one or one-to-many communications. With version 3.7, users now can be selectively grouped. Broadcast messages can be sent to any combination of defined groups and individuals. Addressees are easily selected with checkboxes from those currently online. Users can choose to send messages with either Enter or the Ctrl-Enter key combination. This release adds conversational-style messaging and properly auto-configures to work with Windows Firewall. Windows Server 2003 Active Directory is a centralized database that stores the collection of information about all the resources available on the Windows Server 2003 domain. It is a hierarchical representation of all the objects and their attributes available on the network. It enables administrators to manage the network resources, i.e., computers, users, printers, shared folders, etc., in an easy way. The logical structure represented by Active Directory consists of forests, trees, domains, organizational units, and individual objects. This structure is completely independent from the physical structure of the network, and allows administrators to manage domains according to the organizational needs without bothering about the physical network structure.
